Let It Shine

Presented by Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc and featuring an all star judging panel that included Gary Barlow and Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp, Let it Shine has completed an hugely successful run, with shows drawing in excess of 6 million viewers following the search for a group of singers to star in a new musical based on the songs of Take That.

Working alongside award winning LD Gurdip Mahal plus crew members James Tinsley (Gaffer), Rob Bradly (generics) and Bill Peachment (moving lights), Aurora supported the show throughout the initial stages at Salford’s Media City before migrating south to the BBC’s Elstree Studios for the live finals.

Vibrant, versatile and full of movement, the elaborate studio installation allowed contestants a true taste of the live arena and delivered a host of exciting backdrops that accompanied a series of stunning performances by A list acts including the Kaiser Chiefs, Mel C and Take That.

Having supplied over 200 automated fixtures to the show, Aurora provided the crew with an almost limitless combination of colour and texture. The live stage package included Martin Mac Aura Wash and Mac Viper AirFX, Clay Paky Mythos and Sharpy plus Vari-Lite VL500 Wash, plus a selection of ETC profiles. To take care of the additional backstage coverage, Aurora included their new Chroma Q Space Force plus a selection of Fresnels which added a natural warmth to the setting.

Speaking about the Aurora service, LD Gurdip Mahal said “I would like to thank the team at Aurora for supporting on this project, especially Ben Taylor who was there 24 hours a day if needed to make sure all went well. The equipment was outstanding as normal and I look forward to working with them on future projects”.

Commenting on the production, Aurora Project Manager Ben Taylor says “We’re immensely proud to have supported the team at Let it Shine - both at Media City and during the Elstree based live finals. The crew created some fantastic live looks which gave performers and audiences alike a true taste of what lies in store for the winners!”
